I, Chris Cornell, am Leaving Audioslave

February 16th, 2007

It seems as though my boy, Chris Cornell has left Audioslave.  There has been a HUGE spike in traffic over the last day because of that, but I’m sorry, but you’ve reached the wrong Chris Cornell.  So if you’re looking for information on the other Chris Cornell, try his page.

Sometimes I hate having a (somewhat) famous name.

Changes

October 18th, 2006

Another two months have passed since I’ve updated my blog, but that’s pretty much par for the course.  As usual, I’ll sum up the last couple months in one post.  I started a new job about a month ago at a company called Environmental Data Solutions Group, or EDSG for short.  They’re an environmental data management consulting company.  I’m part of their EMIS team, so I’m doing IT work, data analysis, comptuer programming, software implementation, and all that other cool computer stuff.  I’m really enjoying things so far, so I’m happy.  Right now, I split my time at an oil refinery in Carson, LAX, and my home office.  Commuting from Valencia was out of the question, so I’ve moved down to Sherman Oaks.  Mike and I are going to be roommates (when he moves in next week), and we’re living right across the courtyard from Manny and Nick.  Needless to say, it’s a huge improvement over living at home.  I even have some pictures of the apartment if you’re interested.  The other big news is that I have a girlfriend now.  Danielle is her name, and she’s pretty awesome.  I’m sure I’ll blog about her later, so stay tuned.

Well, that’s the past two months in a nutshell.  I gotta say things are going pretty well, and I’m happy.  As I’ve promised before, I’ll try and keep this updated.  Stay tuned…

The Lange’s are Moving Away

August 6th, 2006

This weekend was Cody and Jen’s last here in SoCal. They are moving to Colorado later this week. We spent most of the weekend just hanging out, pictures here and here. It’s so sad, but I wish them the best of luck in Colorado.

I also added pictures from Monday’s bowling night a couple weeks ago. That puts my picture gallery at well over 1,000 total pictures! WooHoo!

One more thing, the LA Times had a pretty good article this morning, about Joe Francis, the creator of the Girls Gone Wild series. It made my skin crawl, this guy is such a creep.

Insurance Woes

July 31st, 2006

I was rear ended about a month ago on my way home from work. Some little Saturn wasn’t paying attention and nailed my bumper. His front was jacked up, but my rear bumper just had a little dent. It still needed to be repaired, so I had to take it into the body shop. [Side Note: I had to get a rental car for the week my car was there, so I really wanted to get a Dodge Charger, but they didn’t have any. So, I got the next best thing, a Chrysler 300C, with the HEMI engine. It was totally awesome.] Anyways, I went to pick up my truck a week later, and to my great suprise, they charged me my deductible, $1000! I was sure there was something wrong, after all, it had been 2 weeks since I filed my claim, so they surely should have found the other guy at fault and waive my deductible. No such luck. I had to dish out a grand to get my truck back.

So I’m pissed. I called my worthless claims adjuster, and he gave me some spiel about how he couldn’t get a hold of the other insurance company, and it would have to go through “subrogation” and that it could take up to 3 months to get my money back. Horse crap. The day before this, I had filed my own claim with this dude’s insurance company (to get reimbursed for my rental). The SAME day, an adjuster calls me back, says his driver is at fault, and all I had to do was fax my rental invoice over, and they’d cut me a check. Same freakin day!

So now I’m really pissed. It’s now 4 weeks after the accident, and I still haven’t even heard back from my adjuster. I call him Thursday, no return call. I call him Friday, no return call. I call him again today, doesn’t pick up, so his voice mail say, “if I’m not doing a satisfactory job, you can talk to my supervisor, blah, blah, blah.” So I get his supervisor on the phone, tell her this chump is giving me the run-around, not returning my calls, and really pissing me off. So she looks at my file, gives me the same “subrogation” line, could take up to 3 months, etc.

Now I’m livid. I explain to her that I talked to the other dude’s insurance, and they already assesed blame, and they were cutting me a check. So finally she just says, “Ok, we’ll get a check out to you.” After all that, she has the power to go around “subrogation” and give me my money. What a pain.

I guess I got a little bit of revenge. When I was talking to the supervisor, I told her what a horrible job my claims adjuster was doing, so she made a note of it. About two hours later, the adjuster calls me up (from the calls I left the previous week) and asks how he can help me. I told him everything was fine now, and my check was on the way. So he pulls up my claim, just to double check, and he reads all the comments I left with the supervisor. I think I actually heard his heart break over the phone as he was reading them. He tried to give me some half-assed excuse about how busy he was, but it was too little too late. Thanks for nothing.

I’m Huge in China

July 11th, 2006

I was checking my website stats today, and I noticed an unusual referrer (somebody that has linked to my site). I decided to investigate. The site is in Chinese, but I continue to scroll through, hoping to see my name or a link. Then, out of nowhere, I see this post (scroll down, second picture). What the heck? It looks like he’s talking about UCSB and Isla Vista a lot. I tried translating the text directly below my picture with Babel Fish, and got this:

Typical UCSB sends to the girl, I acknowledged my aesthetic standard has not evolved until today to may appreciate such girl, unfilial Chinese descendant

Anywho, I got a kick out of it. If anybody can properly translate for me, I’d be much obliged.

Massive Photo Upload

June 27th, 2006

I just uploaded like 700 or so photos. They’re all older (all the way back to high school), but I figured I have the bandwidth and the space, so why not? Some of my favorite albums: Isla Vista Haloween, Senior Prom, The Original Camping Trip Pictures, Random Santa Barbara Pics, The Prank War, Ken’s Bachelor Party, and the infamous Snow Penis. Too many memories.

And Let me just add that I love that random photo generator to your right. I could spin that thing for hours.

Random Night

June 24th, 2006
Dodger Game

Last night was one of the most random nights I’ve had in a long time. Lara, Sarah, Casey and I decided to go to a Dodger’s game. It was Fernando Valenzuela bobble head doll night, but we got there late and missed the giveaway. Oh well. We were out in the pavilion seats, behind the outfield wall. Unbeknownst to us, they don’t serve alcohol out there! That sucked, but the Dodgers won, so all was good. After the game, we went back to the girl’s new house and had a couple drinks, plaed Twister (yeah!), Jenga, and Scruples. One time I went in the kitchen to grab a beer, and there was a cockroach the size of my fist running across the floor. He ran under the stove, but I was looking for him the whole night. Then, as we were about to leave, he came crawling from underneath the refridgerator. It took about half a can of Raid to put him down. We made such a rukus their landlord came over and told us to be quiet. Then, to top the evening off, somehow all four of us crammed into Sarah’s full sized bed and watched Almost Famous. I didn’t get home til 4:30am, so I was pretty much a waste today. Totally random, but totally awesome.

Hello Again

June 22nd, 2006

Well it’s been a long time since I’ve updated this, but a few new website related things are going on. First, I’ve finaly bought legit webhosting with Dreamhost. I got an amazing deal with tons of storage and bandwidth. No more lagging from my cable/old computer setup. Secondly, I’m starting a new website, People Sleeping In Cars.com. Basically, it’s going to be a photo blog of people who have fallen asleep while riding in a car. People are generally pretty funny when they sleeping, but when you put them in a cramped car with a seat belt, it becomes hillarious. I’m modeling the site after the hillarious StuffOnMyCat.com. I got the idea driving home from work the other day, when I saw some poor guy sleeping in the car with his face smashed against the window. I had to chuckle. So please go check it out and submit some photos for me.
A few blog related issues: I’ve switched from Movable Type to WordPress. Not so much because I think one is better than the other, but just because Dreamhost has a cool one click install feature for WordPress. I’ve imported all my old blog posts (at least through last August, the last time I backed up (ouch)), but I’m sure there’ll be some broken links and pictures, so I apologize. I’m using the default theme for now until I can find some time to create my own.
Lastly, somebody told me yesterday that I look like the new James Bond. Rock.

Vegas Baby

August 7th, 2005

We went to Vegas this weekend for Cody’s bachelor party. It fuckin rocked. That’s all I can say though. We made a pact never to discuss the events of this weekend. So don’t ever ask me about Dutch Flats. My lungs and liver feel like they’re on fire, so I need to get to bed.
